On August 15th Italy celebrates “Ferragosto”, the most important Italian feast during Summer period. It is a public holiday so almost every business, shop, bank and public office will be closed.
During all the weekend the Colosseum, Castel Sant’Angelo, and Galleria Borghese will be open.
All the Statal Museums will be open: Capitoline Museums, the Trajan’s Forum, the Ara Pacis Museum, MACRO – Roman Musuem of Contemporary art, and others.
Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, will be closed both on Saturday 15th, that is the commemoration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Catholic Church, and Sunday 16th.
