Vatican Museums, included the Sistine Chapel, are usually open from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 6 pm (exit from rooms half an hour before closing time). Ticket office is open from 9 am to 4 pm.
For another year, Vatican Museums renew their Night Openings. Every Friday evening, from May 6th to October 28th (except for the month of August) the Museums will open from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm (last entrance at 9:30 pm).
The Nocturnal Opening will be in addition to the normal opening during the day. An extraordinary opportunity to visit the Vatican Museums after sunset, with less crowd, especially during the hot Roman Summer!
The cultural and musical accompaniment to enrich the experience of some of the evening openings has also been confirmed.
During these evenings, visitors will be able to admire the Pio-Clementine Museum, the Egyptian Museum, the Upper Galleries (Candelabra, Tapestries and Maps), the Raphael’s Rooms, the Borgia Apartment, the Collection of Modern Religious Art, and the Sistine Chapel.
Booking online is mandatory.
In order to purchase tickets online, you need to have on hand an identity document, a credit card and names of all the participants.
Last Sunday of every month, admission to the Museums will be free of charge.
On these Sundays, the Museums will be open from 9 am to 2 pm. Entrance is allowed from 9 am to 12:30 pm. No booking or tickets are available on free Sundays.
If the last Sunday of the month coincides with Easter Sunday, June 29th (St. Peter and Paul), December 25th or 26th (Christmas and St. Stephen), Vatican Museums will be closed.
On September 27th, for the World Tourism Day, the entrance to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel will be free of charge. During the online reservation, you will pay only the reservation fees.
